7-YEAR-OLD RACHEL’S HOMEMADE COOKIES SOLD LIKE HOTCAKES
Sells out in one day. Raises $650 for People for the Poor
Rachel Evans of Deptford, NJ not only baked cookies with her father John, she also sold them at her recent bake sale and raised $650 for her recently-deceased grandmother’s favorite charity – People for the Poor.
On Friday, February 17 @ 7 PM, Rachel, along with her parents Lynde and John Evans, delivered the large presentation check to the People for the Poor’s Annual Dinner at Christ the King Church, Haddonfield, NJ.
This donation puts People for the Poor over the $850,000 mark of monies raised and distributed to South Jersey’s Homeless Veterans, Women’s Shelters, and Soup Kitchens. At the dinner, $50,000 will be distributed among nine shelters.
Started in 2004, People for the Poor is a non-profit organization run solely through volunteers. 100% of all profits raised through its fundraisers efforts is donated to South Jersey’s Homeless Veterans, Women’s Shelters, and Soup Kitchens.
Dinner was catered by C.K. Kitchen, the culinary and baking job training program of Cathedral Kitchen, the largest emergency food provider in Camden, NJ.
