Red Hat Cuties

There is an Organization called the Red Hats which comprises a group of women who are retired and do social events, such as lunches, movies, etc. There is a Chapter in Sicklerville who call themselves the Red Hat Cuties. Every year they have an annual fund raiser and this year they donated all the proceeds, $1950, to People for the Poor. But, that is only part of the story… They sent a letter out to every home in their community asking for soap, shampoo, combs, brushes, etc., the stuff we use daily but which the homeless do not have. After their fundraiser on April 6th, they LOADED my trunk and back seat with these precious items which went to the Women’s shelter in Glassboro. As I arrived, there were 2 little girls playing in the yard. As we were unloading, one of the girls asked me who all this was for. When I told her that it was for everyone who lived here, her eyes widened and she said “Really??” When she was assured that it was for everyone and as I was leaving, she handed me a daffodil which she just picked -that little flower so touched my heart!
